Japanese Firm To Build Fiber Glass Boats in Liberia

A representative of the Japanese Company Yamaha, Mr. Motoki Watanabe is in Liberia as guest of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA).

The visit of Mr. Motoki Watanabe is part of efforts gear towards conducting the first assessment on the possibilities of manufacturing Fiber Glass Boats in Liberia.

The Fiber Glass Boats are intended to enhance the operations of artisanal fishermen across the nine coastal Communities in Liberia.

According to a NaFAA release, the Japanese Yamaha Representative, Mr. Motoki Watanabe is touring fishing communities in Montserrado, Bomi and Cape Mount Counties.

The discussion was held on Tuesday November 27, 2018, with the NaFAA’s boss Madam Emma Metieh Glassco.

During the talks, she said the Government of Liberia and the Japanese Government are on course with the possibilities of potential business investment in Liberia for the manufacturing of Fiber Glass Boats for artisanal fishermen.

It can be called that in October 2018, The Japanese Ambassador accredited to Ghana paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority Mrs.Emma Metieh Glassco .

In a related development, the Yamaha Company also conducted the first assessment recently on the possibilities to manufacturing Fiber Glass Boats for Liberian fishermen.
